Crates and Cages

Veterinarians and Trainers Recommend Pet Crates
Instinctively, dogs want a personal territory and a safe secure comfort zone to fulfill their need to "den". A dog crate offers a positive solution to house-training and minimizes destructive behavior. Dogs prefer to keep their sleeping areas clean and dry. This is your dog's bedroom.
We offer wire, soft-side and wicker dog crates as well as crate covers and beds for your dog's crate. Wire dog crates are best if you are using your dog crate primarily at home. Soft-side dog crates work best if you need to take your dog crate with you when traveling, vacationing or just running around town although they can also be used at home as well. Our wicker crates can be used in almost any situation, but are best for home use.

How To Measure Your Pet For A Crate
The measurements of your crate are very important for your pet's safe, comfortable confinement and travel. This diagram will give you a little help.

-
Length: is from the from the front breast bone to the base of tail plus 2" for medium breeds and 6" for large breeds.
-
Height: is from the floor to the shoulder plus 3"-6". (For airline travel, it is necessary that the crate be as tall as your pet's head, and he should be able to stand in a natural manner as well as turn around and lie down.)
For housetraining you might choose one that will fit your pet as an adult so that it provides life-long service. To estimate his adult size check the breed standard. (Most breed standards, however, measure your pet at the shoulder.)
-
Width: is a couple of inches less than height at the shoulder.
For airline travel, see travel crates and softsided carriers, as metal and wire carriers are forbidden on airlines.
